Spilanthol
Herbal alternative
for botox
SPILANTHOL
Z ACMELLA OLERACEA
SPILANTHES ACMELLA EXTRACT
Spilanthol isolated from Acmella oleracea is a natural N-alkylamide, showing multidirectional biological activity, among others the antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, painkilling, antifungal and antihistamine effect.
SPILANTHOL ATTRACTS PARTICULAR ATTENTION OF THE COSMETIC INDUSTRY THANKS TO ITS ABILITY TO REDUCE MUSCLE TENSION, WHICH AS A RESULT DECREASES THE NUMBER AND DEPTH OF FACIAL MIMIC WRINKLES.
Thanks to this property, cosmetics containing spilanthol are called
NATURAL HERBAL BOTOX.
Concentrated extract from overground parts of Acmella oleracea containing spilanthol at appropriate concentration represents tensing and firming properties.
By relaxing facial mimic muscles, it helps to smooth and reduce visible wrinkles, partially caused by tense or shrunk muscles.
Apart from blocking contraction activity of facial muscles, spilanthol also represents caring properties (antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidizing). By stimulating fibroblasts, it motivates them to produce elastin and collagen. It also reduces facial defects caused by sun damage, environmental pollution or the atrophy of subcutaneous soft tissue. The treatment aimed at improving the condition of facial skin consists in external application of the product (serum, cream, gel), which makes it possible to eliminate undesired effects of intramuscular injections (e.g. redness in the area of injection, micro hematoma).
THANKS TO THE DOCUMENTED PAINKILLING, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND LOCAL ANESTHETIC EFFECT, THE EXTRACT CONTAINING SPILANTHOL IS USED AS A COMPONENT OF TOOTHPASTES AS WELL AS ANALGESIC DENTAL GELS.
What is more, spilanthol improves the absorption of other active ingredients of a cosmetic product, which contributes to its increased efficiency and makes it possible to reduce manufacturing costs.
Application
Active substances of natural origin currently constitute the foundation of cosmetic and dermatological products
In the last years, cosmetic industry was revolutionized by products based on plant extracts. New approach towards daily skin care is observed, consisting in consciously choosing cosmetics containing natural raw materials. Spilanthol is becoming an increasingly popular ingredient of cosmetics.

Innovative Technology
for obtaining spilanthol
MELALEUCA Poland Sp. z o.o. with its registered seat in Gliwice implemented in the period June 2019 – December 2020 the project within the framework of Intelligent Development Operational Program, sub-activity “Vouchers for innovation for SMEs”, co-funded from the sources of European Regional Fund and entitled “Developing the technology for obtaining the extract of (2E,6Z,8E)-N-isobuthylo-2,6,8-decatrienamide (spilanthol) based on asteraceae plants (Acmella oleracea) for the manufacturing of anti-wrinkle products”.
The development of technology was commissioned to the Department of Organic Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry and Biotechnology of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
Spilanthol extract obtained according to Polish innovative technology was used for the development of the line of natural cosmetic raw materials called MELATULINE®.
